For a few years now Maclaren ultra light strollers have been the lightest premium umbrella strollers on the market. UPPABaby would like to be the lightest but regardless what my local baby store salesperson tells me they simply aren’t the lightest.
The Gluxe weighs in at a whopping 11 lbs which sounds great until you compare it against the new Volo stroller.
The newest Volo (model year 2012) weighs only 8.8 lbs making it by far the lightest stroller for sale other than the cheap plastic umbrella stroller s that you wouldn’t trust your daughters good dolls in. :)
Amazingly the new Volo stroller is actually heavier than the 2011 Volo which only weighed 8.6 lbs. Presumably the differences went to beefing the stroller up a bit so that it could meet global safety standards; a new feat for all of the Maclaren strollers in 2012.
There are a good number of other light strollers on the market and although the G-Luxe is heavier I would still not say that it is the best.
I noted on my best stroller list that I believe the new Globetrotter stroller by Maclaren is the best lightweight umbrella stroller of 2012. It’s slightly heavier than the Volo but it reclines – that makes it better in my opinion.

Introducing The New City Mini GT Stroller!
Did you miss it? I almost did because the new City Mini GT stroller looks almost identical to the regular City Mini.
This year, this month actually, Baby Jogger just released their new version of the Mini which is a bit larger and a bit more rugged than the original.
Both the new 2012 GT and the 2012 CM are upgraded over the 2011 model year. They both are a bit larger and they both have a redesigned underseat basket frame gvin better access to the under seat stroage.
The GT City Mini however goes a step further by redesigning the handelbar and brake system putting the brake on the handle and then makign the whole bar adjustable for the comfort of the parent.
I am a rather tall man and I love this feature. I can adjust the bar to make it more comfortable for my use and my wife can just switch it back when she uses it.
Anyway, in addition to these chnages the best upgrade of them all has to do with the front wheel. It's not a single wheel that'sa bit bigger and air fileld. Actually it's a air foam that won't ever deflate but it feels more like air which makes the ride for the baby noticably smoother.
I'll update the blog again in the future with a bit more on this strolelr but from what I gather there are other new Baby Jogger strollers coming soon too which I'll have to research and post on.

The Best Stroller Of 2012
Every year new strollers come and old strollers go out of style. Most of the top brands are constantly updating their lineup of strollers for an ever changing base of consumers.
A a parent it can be hard to keep up with these changes. The following strollers are my favorite strollers for 2012. Many of these are new release strollers and others are tried and true strollers from the most trusted brands in the business.
All of these strollers are safe and dependable and each will turn heads.

The new Globetrotter stroller is just barely heavier than the Volo and is identical almost every way except for the seat back. It actually reclines. For that you add a bit more to the price and a couple more pounds to the stroller frame. Even still it only weighs 10.6 pounds. The 2012 UPPABaby G-Luxe is a prime example of a nearly perfect stroller. It is really lightweight (11 lbs) and is insancely durable. I like the coros especially and am excited about the significant features it has for such a small umbrella stroller. It's not as light as the Maclarens but it is a better all around stroller. You can't go wrong with the Vista and the 2012 model simply improves upon previous models. The price is quite high but many would argue it's worth it. Check for current pricing on Amazon as well as for customer reviews.

In April of 2012 the new Maclaren Globetrotter stroller is going to be released to the world. It is basically the same thing as the 2012 Volo stroller but will have a few more features.
The design of the cover will be very slightly different and the weight will be a tad bit heavier - it will weigh about 10.6 pounds compared to 8.8 for the Volo.
The major difference between the Volo and the Globetrotter stroller however will be the seat back for baby.
The Volo has a fixed position seat back but the Globetrotter will have multiple positions of recline so that you can make your baby or toddler more comfortable. Maybe your child needs to sleep and he or she can't do it well in the Volo; the reclining seat back of the Globetrotter may be just what you need.
The Globetrotter release date is slated for early April 2012 but the stroller will go on sale at different times and days depending on retailer and how early they recieve shipment.
Until this stroller actually hits store shelves I won't be able to experiment with it first hand but this Maclaren Globetrotter review is online for you to look at to get a first impression. Check it out and then come back here for my take when I finally get my hands on it.
